Charles Robinson Hockey today

HOCKEY: The 13th Charles Robinson Memorial seven-a-side hockey tournament will be held today at Police Park, Bambalapitiya from 8 a.m. The tournament is conducted by the Matale St. Thomas’ College Old Boys Association (Colombo branch).

The tournament is held annually in memory of late Charles Robinson who served as principal of the college for 35 years and contributed a lot for the promotion of hockey in Matale.

There will be 17 teams that will play in the tournament. The teams are: Sri Lanka Army, Matale Old Thomians, BRC, Park, S.C., Old Preterites S.C., Old Anandians S.C., Old Zahirians S.C., Old Christ Church, Sri Lanka Police, D.S. Senanayake S.C. Colts C.C., Wennapuwa S.C., Sri Lanka Air Force, Sri Lanka Navy, Old Bens S.C., Old Nalandians S.C., CH and FC.

Besides the trophies to be won, there’s cash awards too — the winners, first runners-up and second runner-up will cash awards of Rs. 15,000, Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 5,000 respectively. There will also be a trophy for the Best Player.

The final is expected to be held at 5. p.m.
