Preserving tradition - Metropolitan applauded

Director/CEO Metropolitan Taslim Rahaman accepting the award of appreciation on behalf of Metropolitan Group Chairman J.J.Ambani, from President Mahinda Rajapaksa, for the support extended towards taking the world heritage event, the Kandy Esala Perahera, live to the world.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa presented a special award of appreciation to Metropolitan for its efforts in protecting and conserving the Kandy Esala Perahera and for its support in taking Sri Lanka to the world, at a ceremony held at his residence in Kandy.

For the first time in the history of the Kandy Dalada Perahara, the procession was webcasted via the official Sri Dalada Maligawa website along with the Metropolitan corporate website. Metropolitan sponsored the filming and webcasting of the event.

The Media Unit of the Sri Dalada Maligawa with sponsorship from Canon and Metropolitan and supported by Ceylon Sights, and TNL also telecast a multilingual live broadcast of the proceeding with live commentaries.

Metropolitan and Canon Singapore also donated Canon camera lenses to supplement the professional DSLR Canon camera and printer donated to the Media Unit last year.
