Army to the fore in clean-up campaign

Army personnel from all field formations deployed all over the country participated in a series of community-oriented clean-up campaigns in the Kandy area to mark the 61st commemoration of Army Day on October 10.

On the instructions of the Army Commander Lieutenant Jagath Jayasooriya, Kandy-based 11 Division Headquarters, commanded by Major General Mano Perera, launched a shramadana campaign to clean moats, drains and the areas surrounding the Sri Dalada Maligawa, four Maha Devala premises, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Pillair Kovil and Meera Makkam Mosque.
