Durra boards capture local market

Durra, the environmental-friendly building products are one hundred percent Sri Lankan made under a technology transfer permit from Ortech Industries Pte Ltd, Australia.

The Durra boards for multi-purpose building panel are manufactured using compressed paddy straw.

The boards can be used for internal dry wall partitions, half wall partitions, floor, desks, walkable ceilings, acoustic walls and sound rooms, ceilings suspended or concealed, fire rated walls, kit houses, cabanas and chalets.

Durra Board is 100 percent eco friendly with no chemicals involved and can be used for density heat environment, sound reduction, punch resistance and thermal insulation, and, most importantly the water does not get absorbed.

It is made out of raw straw compressed under extreme heat while not letting it burn. A hose made out of Durra board lasts 30 years.

Durra Building Systems (Pvt) Ltd is a subsidiary of International Construction Consortium (Pvt) Ltd (ICC) and has branches in Australia, USA, Philippines and in Sri Lanka, located at Minneriya.

The panels are very popular in Australia, USA, New Zealand, Indonesia and Philippines and boasts of a forty-year proven track record, thus assuring you of highest technical support and expertise at international level.

Durra panels which are 58mm thick are used in construction of walls. No additional frame work is required, is easy for construction and also time saving. The fire rated dots stand out for more than two hours, tested by the ITI Sri Lanka. The kit houses are manufactured by Durra for dormitories, schools and project offices. The latest production of Durra are a single and two bed room guest house. These can be constructed on ground or on an elevated level.

With Durra panels a building can be constructed in 10 days, using less labour hours, with seven to ten labourers.
