NDB Bank's Divi Aruna in Trincomalee, Matara
NDB Bank's SME loan scheme, 'Divi Aruna' was introduced to
Trincomalee and Matara recently. The scheme aims to provide funding that
will develop the lives of the communities and elevate their social
standing, empowering them to make the most of their entrepreneurial
skills, to be part of the rapid economic growth in post war Sri Lanka.
Vice President SME and Specialised Commercial Markets, Raj Aboobucker
handed over funding for the sectors: maldive-fish, footwear, dairy and
pottery.
The salient feature of the loan scheme is that the borrowers are able
to obtain loans at very concessionary rates without collateral.
The Divi Aruna scheme also encourages a savings culture among
borrowers, so that they will create equity for their future. 'Divi Aruna'
launched in the Jaffna, Batticaloa and Ampara districts, has been
successful where repayments are prompt and regular.
Reiterating the bank's firm belief that an entrepreneurial culture is
essential for the sustainable development of a nation, NDB Bank
pioneered project lending and SME financing in Sri Lanka and has
contributed to this sector over the years.
Having financially supported over 35,000 ventures and creating more
than 500,000 employment opportunities islandwide, NDB Bank remains
committed to empowering the SME sector.
