Sampath to introduce Visa Infinite, Visa Signature cards

"Sampath Bank is to introduce the Visa Infinite and the Visa Signature cards to Sri Lanka soon, said Chief Operating Officer Sampath Bank Aravinda Perera.

He said that the bank will issue around 200 Infinite cards in Sri Lanka and the benefits will be unparallel. India being such a big country has issued only 1,100 infinite cards, said Perera. Visa Infinite is a world class premium product which is distinguished by its superior features and outstanding benefits for its owner. All platinum cards will be upgraded to Visa Signature.

Sampath Bank is progressing towards regaining the top position in the card market.

He said the bank plans to issue around 2000 signature cards aimed at catering to the needs of high spending cardholders.

Manager Card Centre Nirosha de Silva said that Sampath Bank is planning to expand the card business to the suburbs as well as the rural sector. She said that although other banks have 28 different charges added upto the card Sampath Bank has only four charges.

She said that the bank is cautious in issuing cards while it has already built a merchant network.

She said that they are planning several loyalty programs for the benefit of customers.

Ms. de Silva said that Sampath bank is aiming at attracting customers of other banks to become its cardholders. She said that the card market last month was 830,000.
