Nearly 40,000 foreign students including 2,500 students from Sri Lanka follow their higher education in India. Nearly 700 Sri Lankan students are studying on scholarships and self-financed schemes offered by India, according to the Indian High Commission sources.

The Educational Fair "Adyapana 2010" which is being held at Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Centre in BMICH from October 15 till today would also help to attract more Sri Lankan students to conduct their higher studies in India, Chief General Manager of EdCIL N.S. Padmanabhan said.

According to Padmanabhan, India is the largest participant in the Adyapana-2010 and have set up 16 stalls including the stall of EdCIL at the exhibition premises.

According to Padmanabhan since last 27 years the EdCIL is operating in over 40 countries. The Organisation provides a wide spectrum of service in the fields of education and human resource consultancy.

The participation of India in "Adyapana 2010" would be a one stop shop for providing information about Indian education and facilitating the admission process for the Sri Lankan students, Padmanabhan added.

Dinesh Ranya the Second Secretary Education and Sports of Indian High Commission and Dr. Sulaiman Deputy General Manager of EdCIL also took part in the media briefing.
