Moratuwa University tennis team on top

TENNIS: The Moratuwa University tennis team showed thier superiority for the fourth consecutive year at the 10th Sri Lanka University Games and retained the championship and thereby the Gold Medal.

In the final Moratuwa met University of Colombo and won by 3 matches to 1.

1st singles: Prathaj Haputhanthri (U of M) beat M. Rupasinghe 6-0, 6-0. 2nd singles: Thangaraja Kishanthan (U of M) beat D. Kaluarachchi 6-0, 3-2 retd.

3rd singles: S. Kosigan (U of M) beat T. Sellahewa 6-2, 6-2.

1st Doubles: Prathaj Haputhanthri and Parinda Jayasiri (U of M) beat S. Kosigan and N. Gajadeera 6-2, 6-2.

In the group stage, University of Moratuwa beat University of Ruhuna 3-nil, University of Peradeniya 3-1. The Moratuwa boys beat University of Sri Jayawardenapura 3-1 in the semi-final.

University of Moratuwa team: Thangaraja Kishanthan (Captain), Parinda Jayasiri (Vice-Captain) Prathaj Haputhanthri, Ruchira Gunawardena, Thiran Sellahewa, Chanthuranga Kunnangara, Viraj Muthugala and Hasaka Surasinghe.

The coach of the team is Dimuth Pathiraja and the physical trainer is Jaliya Yasarathna.
