Crack down on drug ring in Panadura and Mt. Lavinia

The suspects arrested on Friday during a massive cordon and search operation in the Panadura and Mount Lavinia areas are being grilled by the police narcotics division to track the kingpins in the drug mafia, police media spokesman S.P. Prishantha Jayakody said.

He said that similar search operations will be carried out in the future too. During last Friday’s operation 16 suspects were arrested and large stocks of ganja, heroin, Babul and other narcotics were seized.

The SP said that a notorious drug dealer was also among the suspects.

Over 1,300 policemen were deployed and 1,700 houses were searched in the Mount Lavinia and Panadura areas.
