Drinking water for school in Hasalaka

"Munchee Samaga Gamata Sarana", the community development initiative of Ceylon Biscuits Limited recently provided a drinking water system for the benefit of Ranasingha Premadasa National School in Hasalaka. The school which has over 1,300 students had been facing hardship due to the lack of pure drinking water. General Manager Sales, Ceylon Biscuits Limited I.M. Khan inaugurates the project in the presence of zone education officers, teachers and students of the school.

Markss Healthcare (Markss HLC) one of the fastest growing pharmaceutical companies in Sri Lanka has partnered DemeTech Corporation, an American manufacturer of surgical sutures and blades headquartered in Miami, FL, USA, Medical Director of Markss HLC Dr. S Mahakalanda said. The signing of the MoU was between Managing Director of MARKSS HLC (Pvt) Limited Rajiv Nanayakkara, and Sales Director for the Asia Pacific region of DemeTech Corporation Jonathan Hulme.

The partnership launched a new range of products catering to Sri Lanka at the Annual Academic Sessions of the College of Surgeons held recently at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo.

Commenting on the partnership Nanayakkara said, "Through this partnership we hope to reiterate our commitment towards the Sri Lankan market introducing state of the art medical products to our country, DemeTech is able to provide sutures of paramount quality at a lower and more reasonable cost.

The future of Sri Lanka is promising and we assure the very best to our market." The partnership focuses on importing and marketing the highest quality pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, medical and surgical equipment and devices to the Sri Lankan market.


MTI CEO briefs Bangladesh business community

MTI Chief Executive Hilmy Cader and the MTI Bangladesh Team, as part of their road show in Dhaka, addressed the Bangladesh business community on the Economic and business impact of the global financial crisis on Bangladesh and how they should strategically respond. MTI's Bangladesh operations, headed by Ms. Saima Mazhar, has carried out consulting assignments for many of the leading multi-business conglomerates in Bangladesh including Beximco, Gemcon, Concord, Ejab and Runner.


Micromax Mobile partners Mobitel to offer exclusive value packs

CEO of Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel Suren J. Amarasekera and Business Head SAARC Region-Micromax Informatics Limited Vikas Sahni handover an exclusive value pack to Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Jeevan Kumaranatunga.

Micromax, through Mobitel will offer two exclusive value packs to those who purchase a Micromax mobile. Customers who purchase a Micromax mobile phone priced below Rs. 10,000 are entitled to a value pack that includes 150 minutes of voice calls and 750 SMSs within Mobitel Network to be enjoyed over a period of three months. Customers who purchase a Micromax mobile phone above the value of Rs. 10,000 are entitled to a value pack that includes 600 minutes of voice calls, 1500 SMSs within the Mobitel Network and 300 MB of data over a period of six months.

These entitlements are divided equally over the period of 3 months and 6 months respectively.
