Lankans in Sydney donate hospital beds
Laksaviya Foundation, a charity organisation administered by Sri
Lankans in Sydney, Australia, has donated 36 hospital beds including
seven hi-tech surgical beds worth Rs. 2 million to the Northern Province
health sector.
The Sydney organisation donated the latest hospital beds at a
ceremony at the Jaffna General Hospital on Friday. Speaking at the
event, Ketheeswaran praised the Security Forces in the North for their
contribution towards developing the health sector in the area.
He also expressed his appreciation to the Security Forces for
combatting dengue menace in the peninsula, informed sources said.
Dr. Ketheeswaran also mentioned that due to the swift action by the
Security Forces, the Maruthankerni hospital in Chempianpattu in the
North, which had been in a dilapidated condition, was renovated within a
couple of days, paving the way for better medical services in the area.
