Trinity inflict heavy defeat on Petes

Trinity College once again proved their prowess when they beat the weather to inflict a crushing ten wicket defeat on St. Peter's College to register their sixth outright win in a row in their inter-school cricket match concluded at the Asgiriya Stadium in Kandy yesterday.

Peterites batting once again flopped though they held on for nearly 71 overs for their total of 129 runs in the second innings, but this did not insulate them from defeat as they had a lead of only 12 runs.

Trinity continuing their overnight total of 163 for 6 declared at 219 for 9 in 38 overs which is an indication of positive batting

Left-arm spinner Aamil once again bowled well to capture 3 for 26 giving him a match bag of 7 for 47. Off-spinner Janishka Premasinghe also had a match bag of 6 for 75.

Trinity College had to make 13 runs for victory and they scored in just one over in fading light with dark clouds gathering.
