De Mazenod - Husseini in final

Hameed Al Husseini College Colombo and De Mazenod College Kandana reached the final of the All Island schools under 19 soccer championship. The final stage of the championship is conducted at Anuradhapura public ground which is sponsored by 'Milo'.

The semifinals were worked off yesterday at the same venue. In the semis De Mazenod College defeated strong outfit from St. Benedict's College Kotahena on a tie breaker 5 goals to 4.

Mazenodians were in front at the half way mark 1-0, but before the final whistle Bens found the equalizer and the referee ordered the tie breaker system.

In the other semi final Hameed Al Husseini beat Zahira College Colombo also on a tie breaker 5-4. Non of the teams could find the net during the 90 minutes of play and this too had to be decided on the shoot out.

Today Mazenodians will confront Hameed Al Husseini in the final in Anuradhapura. The kick off is scheduled for 2.30 p.m.
