Unique identification numbers for EPF members
The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) and the Department of Labour
(LD) have launched a joint project to re-register all EPF members. In
re-registering, the members will be assigned their National Identity
Card (NIC) number as the unique identification number in the EPF system.
With the implementation of the re-registration process, member
contributions and the interest earned and distributed among members from
the Fund's investments would be recorded under the unique identification
number throughout the employment life cycle.
The main objective of this project is to provide an efficient and
cost effective service to its members by reducing the time taken to
process their refund applications and requests for balance certificates,
by improved processing efficiency and through a more systematically
maintained data base.
Under the new phase of the project, a new member registration form,
Form RR6 has been introduced to register all new recruits from November
1. All registered employers and all new employers who will commence
business in future are required to furnish NIC details of new employees
recruited after November 1 through Form RR6 along with Form C/C3 when
their first EPF contribution is sent to the EPF Department, Central
Bank, in addition to Forms A, B and H which should be submitted to the
labour office within 14 days of recruitment.
Further, employers having employees who have not yet submitted their
NIC details under the Re-registration Project are also requested to
submit their NIC information through Form RR6 with a photo copy of the
NIC of the employee, certified by the employer with his signature and
company stamp.
All registered employers will receive a specimen format of the Form
RR6 for collection of NIC details of new employees along with
instruction guidelines. Employers to be may obtain Form RR6 from the
nearest Labour Office.
