Wilson Gunaratne's latest Charitha Atak
Internationally acclaimed actor of Charitha Hathak fame Wilson
Gunaratne's newest creation Charitha Atak would go on the boards at the
Elphinstone Theatre today at 6.30 pm.
The story revolves around an aircraft which has been grounded for the
past 62 years, unable to be airborne due to the obstacles to the
development program of our motherland and gives a clear picture about
opportunities, time-servers and bad bureaucracy .
The play gives a clue to the present pilot and his crew members that,
if the appropriate well designed plans could be implemented, the
dreamland aircraft could be airborne to make a successful and
comfortable journey for passengers who have been looking forward to such
a journey from February 4, 2010.
The cast includes Wilson Gunaratne (in eight different characters
with eight different voices), Gamini Hettiarachchi, Keerthi Bandara,
Harry Wimalasena, Wijerathne Naullage, Premarathne Thennakoon, Isuru
Lokuhetti, Chandrathilak Gunaratne, Kasun Chamara, Bandula Kamalanath
Abegunawardana, Nishantha Mallawaarachchi, Suresh Weththasinghe, Lanka
Wijesiriwardana.

Critics say that the controversial play Charitha Atak will keep the
audience in fits of laughter from the beginning to the end of the play.
The political satire will be presented by the Faculty of Medicine
Teachers' Association (Colombo).
