Flexible labour, industrial laws needed - CEF
by P. Krishnaswamy
In the current environment of peace and emerging foreign investment
opportunities, it has become necessary to introduce flexibility to
existing labour and industrial laws and regulations on par with those of
other developing countries, Director General of the Ceylon Employers
Federation (CEF) Ravi Peiris has stated in his submissions on Review of
Labour Regulations in Sri Lanka. The submissions were made to Treasury
Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundara recently.
The CEF fully endorses the policy directive set out in the labour
policy enshrined in the Ten Year Horizon Development Framework, under
the Mahinda Chinthana, which clearly identifies flexible labour laws and
productivity enhancement as key factors for development, he has stated.
