Sangamitta BV creates an upset

Sangamitta Balika Vidyalaya, Matale creates a major upset when they beat one of the top favourite teams Seetha Devi Balika Vidyalaya 1-0 at the all island schools boys and girls under 13 hockey championship organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Hockey Association and the Kandy District Hockey Association which is now being played at the Asgiriya stadium, Kandy.

Sangamitta Balika Vidyalaya scored their winning goal through Sandaruwani Jayaratne in the second half.

However both Sangamitta BV, and Seetha Devi BV along with Yasodara BV, St. Anthony's Girls College, Musaeus College, Hewaheta Central College, Janadhipathi Vidyalaya have entered the quarter finals of the girls championship.

Boys championship Royal College drew with St. Sylvester's College 0-0, D. S. Senanayake College beat Sri Sumangala College 5-0, Dharmaraja College drew with S.
