Amrith, Suwen win

Amrith de Soysa (mens gross) Suwen Selvaratne (ladies gross), Scott Wanigasekera (mens nett) and Niloo Jayatillake (ladies nett) Stole the honours at the annual club championship 2010 at Rajawella off Kandy yesterday.

Conditions were excellent for golf on a bright and sunny day. the course was challenging as usual.

A very large field of golfers lead off around 7.30 am.

Twenty three year old Amrith de Soysa who represented Sri Lanka at the Asian Amateur Golf Championship held in Japan won the Gross Championship with a gross score of 72. His performance included one under gross and had four birdies on his way to the top. Ladies Gross Championship was won by that versatile golfer Suwen Selvaratnam with 81 gross followed by Niloo Jayatilleke 84 gross and in third place was Sonia Boyle with 94 gross Manori jayakody finished fifth with 98 gross.

Mens Nett winner was Scott Wanigasekera with a nett score of 71 playing to a handicap of 24.

In second place was Amrith de Soysa who registered a nett score of 73 playing to a handicap of plus one.

Highly talented Niloo Jayatilleke playing to a handicap of 9 registered a nett score of 75 to lift the ladies nett title. Sonia Boyle was scored 77 nett (Handicap 17),

Sidath Wettimuni won the Mens Division One Championship with a score of 74. The Division Two Championship was won by Rohitha Batepola with a nett score of 75 playing to a handicap of 11.
