President surpassed world leaders in liberating Lanka - Athaullah
by P. Krishnaswamy
President Mahinda Rajapaksa is the only leader in the world who has
been successful in freeing the motherland of terrorism, violence and
partition demands. He fulfilled the pledge before he was sworn in for a
second term as Head of State of a sovereign and united Sri Lanka,
Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government and leader of the
National Congress A.L.M. Athaullah told the Sunday Observer.
Leaders of all political parties who were in power earlier nurtured
communal sentiments for their own political ends and the Tamil leaders
also followed suit on demands of separatism. They never loved their
motherland but instead only worked on their political agenda of self-aggrandisement,
totally indifferent to national welfare.
President Rajapaksa took over the reins of government when the
country was beleaguered by unending conflicts, uncertainty and
instability and has now assumed office for a second term after
fulfilling his pledge, Minister Athaullah said.
