MPs condemn protesters

Nuwara-Eliya District Parliamentarian P. Digambaram and Colombo
District Parliamentarian Prabha Ganeshan yesterday severely condemned
the demonstration carried out by a few LTTE sympathisers in London
recently during President Mahinda Rajapaksa's visit to the United
Kingdom.
Addressing a media briefing held at Nippon Hotel Colombo, Digambaram
said that such demonstration will completely destroy the relationship
between Tamils and Sinhala people.
He said that no international community will come forward to help the
victimised Tamil people who are operating behind such demonstrations.
It is high time to focus attention towards developing the North and
East which were devastated by terrorism without merely engaging in such
demonstrations.
Digambaram also said that the Government is engaged in the process of
reconstructing and redeveloping the North and East amidst strident
criticism.
Ganeshan said that those who engaged in such demonstration, if they
are really willing to take part to console the grievances of Tamil
people may come and take part in the reconstruction activities
implemented in the North. They can help to rebuild the destroyed
schools.
"Today our problems can be solved only by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The foreign forces will never help us. The Tamil National Alliance have
also realised the fact that the solution to the problem or development
could be achieved only through discussion, he added.
