Spotlight on LG bodies

The Local Government Convention and exhibition will be held in Vavuniya from January 28 to 30, 2011, Northern Province Governor G. A. Chandrasiri said.

He said the exhibition will focus attention on the resources and the investment opportunities available in the Northern Province.

The Asian Foundation and GTZ will allocate Rs. 20 million for the convention and exhibition, according to the Governor.

This convention has been organised according to the concept 'National development through local development' implemented under the 'Mahinda Chinthana' national development drive, Regional Assistant Commissioner of Local Government, S. Atchuthan said. Several ministers and VIPs will take part in the convention which is to be held under the patronage of Governor Chandrasiri. The inaugural and concluding ceremonies will be at the Vavuniya Urban Council Cultural Hall while the exhibition has been organised at the Urban Council playground, Vavuniya.

The convention will be held at the Vavuniya District Secretariat auditorium.
