British Business College celebrates anniversary

Former member of Parliament and member of the Central Provincial
Council, S. Sathasivam said at a time when the plantation children were
far behind in their educational achievements, the role played by the
Nuwara Eliya British Business College is commendable.
When he addressed the students, teachers and parents at the 10th year
celebrations held at the Nuwara Eliya Saoumiyamoorthy Hall recently. The
knowledge of English has become a primary need in the country, and
subjects such as computer science, information technology and other
allied subjects being taught at this college has enabled the students to
get several employment opportunities within the area and in the country
as a whole he added. He congratulated the staff members and the Managing
Director of the college S. Amirthanathan.
Ven. Vajirajothy Thera of Matale who traced the history of
educational perspectives in the country and particularly in the hill
country said that he knew the Managing Director of the College,
Amirthanathan for a considerable period and his sole aim and objective
was to enhance the education of the children in the plantation area and
it was creditworthy, within the past ten years, he has attained his
goal, and he wished college the staff and students for many successful
attainments in the future.
Amirthanathan, the Managing Director complimented the staff members
and the parents for their unstinted co-operation and goodwill towards
driving the college to success within the past ten years, and said the
success of the college was entirely due to the discipline and behaviour
imparted on the students.
S. Mohanraj, the Principal of the Holy Trinity Central College, Dr.
P. Rajaratnam, Mrs. S. Deborah, N. Balasubramanium and several others
also spoke.
Distribution of certificates and awarding of medals to students
followed.
