CEA assessment for development projects
After the end of the ethnic conflict of the Sri Lanka, development
activities have been started all over the country. In order to make
these development efforts in a sustainable manner decisions have to be
taken considering all the environmental, economic, social and physical
factors. Development activities took place in the past without
considering those aspects have caused serious impact on our environment,
according to Central Environmental Authority.
Based on prior experience the Central Environmental Authority has
initiated to Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) to develop a
spatial information data base for Uva and Central provinces together
with disaster Management Centre and National Physical Planning
Department. Financial support for this SEA will be provided by the UNDP. |
