Joint effort to curb crimes in Jaffna

Police and the Army have launched joint patrolling in the Jaffna to
curb the various forms of criminal activities.
Following the complaints made by people from various parts in the
Jaffna Peninsula regarding robberies and thuggery, the Police jointly
with Army has stepped up the surveillance in the North, Police sources
said.
In the past few weeks several houses in Manipay and Chunnakam areas
were robbed by unidentified man who were armed with guns and knives,
sources said.
Even during the day time houses are robbed and the valuables of the
civilians are snatched on the lonely streets.
Police in Jaffna has also warned the civilians to be vigilant and
corporate in curbing the criminal activities.A week ago a Hindu priest
was shot dead by a group of robbers when he attempted to chase them away
from his house, sources said. |
