International award for woman entrepreneur

"My dream is to contribute to a world with people living on grains and pulses, vegetables and fruits that lead to a healthier life and a peaceful mind devoid of aggression and stress with minds submerged in unlimited loving kindness as expected by the Buddha and Mahatma Gandhi, said Chairman Sujan International (Pvt) Ltd Sunanda Weerasinghe.

She was the winner of an award at the Green Summit held in India recently conducted by the SAARC Chamber Women Entreprenuer Council headed by Mrs Indira Dutt.

Only women who have contributed in many ways as eco friendly producers and helped uplift the society were honoured.

Ms Weerasinghe's vegetarian company and her own service activities were considered in the selection. Weerasinghe who is currently the third Vice President of Sri Lanka Food Processors Association had also served as chairperson of Cleaner Dining program involving a program of upgrading the hygienic standards of mainly smaller eating places in Colombo City including school canteens with the help and advice from the President of Sri Lanka Food Processors Association.

She has contributed to a monthly paper providing articles on healthy, vegetarian preparation of food.

We have dedicated our company to vegetarianism producing 100% vegetarian items, moss jelly, puddings, chocolate mousse, strawberry trifle and many more products as per European standards in a HACCP Certified factory, marketed under Classic vegefoods and Super Sun brands.

We give people the rice and pulse protein power in keeping with President Mahinda Rajapaksa's goal to make this country, a rice eating country with many quick preparations such as red rice idli, white rice idli, dosa, chappathy, red rice crepes, kadala crepes under Lanka Sathosa and Super Sun Brands.

These rice and pulse based meals provide a high protein content that is quite sufficient for a healthy living mung, gram, urid dhal and all the other pulses provide a 22 grams to 24 grams per 100 grams of pulses.
