Illicit distillery in Kahathuduwa house raided

The Central Anti Vice Striking Unit (CAVSU) on a tip off raided an illicit distillery in a two storied house at Kahathuduwa and found Unlawfully Manufactured Liquor (UML) and 90 bottles of distilled spirits in the distillery worth over Rs. 50,000, police sources told the Sunday Observer.

A 24-year old man from Piliyandala who ran the illicit distillery was taken into custody. Police also found a metal spiral coil, two gas tanks, two large gas cookers, two bags each containing 50 kilograms of sugar at the distillery. The stuff was taken charge by the police.

The suspect who ran the distillery at Kahathuduwa was a disciple of a notorious wealthy hooch dealer from Piliyandala. The suspect along with the items recovered were handed over to the Kahathuduwa police to be produced before the Kesbewa Magistrate.
