DDEC to come under ministry

The Cooperative and Internal Trade Ministry has taken over the
management of Dambulla Dedicated Economic Centre (DDEC).
This decision was taken by Minister Johnston Fernando following
corruption and malpractices found on the management of the DDEC.
The farmers who contribute to the DDEC and the traders had complained
to the Ministry the malpractices and corruption being occurred in the
management of Dambulla Dedicated Economic Centre for a long time.
Minister Fernando who inspected the real situation of the centre
decided to take over the management of DDEC under the control of
Cooperative and Internal Trade Ministry with immediate effect.
Considering the welfare of the consumers and the traders this
decision was taken, Minister Fernando said.
