SAWEN parley in Colombo

The South Asian Wildlife Enforcement Network (SAWEN) will hold an
international workshop on January 17, 18 in Colombo to establish
strategies to safeguard the South Asian countries from illegal
activities threatening its biodiversity.
The Government institutes for environment conservation and law
enforcement agencies of eight South Asian countries have jointly
established the SAWEN to strengthen the environment protection of the
region.
The National co-group of Sri Lanka comprises the Department of
Wildlife Conservation, Sri Lanka Customs, the Police and the local
Government bodies. The Sri Lankan National Co-Group will represent Sri
Lanka at the SAWEN international conference, a spokesperson of the
Department of Wildlife Conservation said.
