No more filling of paddy lands

Those who fill up paddy lands will face severe punishment. Steps have been taken to revise the relevant Act and enhance the punishments.

The Commissioner General of Agrarian Services Ravindra Hewavitharana said that according to the proposed revisions those found guilty of this offence will be liable to pay a minimum fine of one hundred thousand rupees or imprisonment for a maximum period of six months or both.
