Special edition for North:
New-look Thinakaran launched

Thinakaran Editor S. Thillainathan presents the first copy of
the new edition to ANCL Chairman Bandula Padmakumara. Editorial

ANCL Chairman Bandula Padmakumara told the new-look Thinakaran launch
that Lake House Would take action within a fortnight to print the
Northern edition of the Thinakaran newspaper in Jaffna.
Chairman Padmakumara said that President Mahinda Rajapaksa who went
to Jaffna to inaugurate the Sangupitty Bridge and participate in the
Thai Pongal celebrations, telephoned from Jaffna and instructed him to
take immediate action to print the Thinakaran in Jaffna within two
weeks.
He said that senior ANCL officers were already taking prompt action
in this connection.
He assured the Thinakaran editor and the editorial staff that the
management would extend all assistance to improve the editorial content
of the newspaper.
Thinakaran's Chief Editor S. Thillainathan said that the newspaper
would cater to the needs and aspirations of its readership by
introducing new features such as political cartoons, business pages and
separate pages for Northern, Eastern and the upcountry plantation
sector. The newspaper has also introduced a weekly column on law and
legal related activates. It is being handled by the Open University
Legal Department Head Yasodara Kathirgamathambi.
He said that South Indian news and foreign news are also covered.
There are also pages dedicated to children's activities and cultural,
religious and social affairs and a separate section for local and
international sports.
The function was attended by ANCL Editorial Director Seelaratna
Senarath, Finance Director Shan Shanmuganathan, General Manager Abhaya
Amaradasa, Silumina Editor Karunadasa Suriarachchi, Dinamina Editor
Mahinda Abhayasundara and the Presidential Media Communication Director
M.K. Rahulan. |
