Don't be misled by rumours - Minister Devananda

Devananda urged the people in the north not to get carried away by
rumours and fabricated stories spread by unscrupulous elements to create
an uneasy situation in the region.
He was speaking at an event, where the Vasavilan Navodaya School was
reopened after it was renovated, at a cost of Rs. 10 million last week.
Governor Northern Province Maj. Gen. G. A. Chandrasiri was the chief
guest on the occasion.
Douglas Devananda in said, the Vasavilan school was reconstructed
under the Uthuru Vasanthaya programme on the directive of President
Mahinda Rajapaksa.
"President Rajapaksa has paid special attention on improving the
living standards of the people.
Some unscrupulous elements have fabricated tales to disturb the
peaceful atmosphere in the North. Hence the people in the North should
not be carried away by those rumours and baseless stories," he said.
Governor Chandrasiri said that this school was rebuilt under Uthuru
Wasanthaya Program under the directive of President Mahinda Rajapaksa
who took special interest on children's education which was the tool for
the future generation.
He said that this was one of the best among the 114 best schools in
the island and he would make this school one of the best among the best
five in near future.
