by Mohammed NAALIR
The authorities in Batticaloa District have been directed to continue
the relief assistance to the flood victims in the District who are still
staying in welfare camps until the flood water recedes from their
habitats, Child Development and Women's Affairs Deputy Minister M.L.A.M.

Hisbullah said that it would take at least one month for the flood
water to drain from certain areas. Due to this cause the authorities

This follows a special meeting held at Batticaloa District
Secretariat recently, the Deputy Minister said.
With the prevailing favourable weather condition all welfare camps
set up for flood victims have been closed except 11 camps where worstly
submerged area people have been sheltered.
Accordingly 600 families numbering 2107 persons are staying in 11
welfare camps, according to Deputy Minister Hisbullah.
The flood victims who had been housed in the schools have been
shifted to the buildings belonging to the Government.
Welfare camps are being run still in Manmunai South, Kokkattichcholai,
