Scot found dead in hotel room

A Scot who complained of dizziness while at dinner with another
foreigner at a tourst hotel in Katukurunda, Kalutara was later found
dead on his bed the following morning by a room attendant, Police Media
Spokesman, Superintendent of Police Prishantha Jayakody told the Sunday
Observer.
The police spokesman said the death had occurred after the foreigner
retired to his room on January 18. The deceased was identified as
Macwall Wookni, age 47, a Scot. He had checked in to a hotel at St.
Sebastian Mawatha, Kalutara on January 11 along with another foreigner.
They had occupied two separate rooms in the hotel. While having dinner,
the deceased had complained of dizziness to his friend. His companion
had then advised him to go to bed early, police said.
The following morning, when the room attendant opened the door around
11.00 a.m, he found the foreigner dead on his bed. When the hotel
manager was informed of the death, he got in touch with the friend of
the deceased.
Later, the Kalutara South police was informed of the sudden death.
The Judicial Medical Officer Kalutara, who conducted the autopsy at the
Kalutara morgue, had stated in his report that death was due to heart
failure. Police said they have informed the Embassy of the death. |
