'Health Advisory Units' benefit public

Health Minister Mithripala Sirisena will implement a novel program to set up `Health Advisory Units' in all districts to enable people to seek medical advices on various illnesses.

Accordingly, people could obtain pre- medical advises on communicable and non-communicable diseases from these units and it will help them to refrain from various illnesses.

The Minister is of the view that due to the negligence, many people are infected with some diseases and said the proposed `Health Advisory Units' will benefit them.

Minister Sirisena told the Sunday Observer that people, especially the younger generation are not aware of even non communicable diseases such as diabetes, gastritis, obesity, heart attacks, strokes etc.

He also mentioned about several dangerous diseases, caused due to the use of alcohol to a greater extent and said that many people are in the habit of using alcohol due to the ignorance of these diseases. He said the Health Advisory Units will help all persons to refrain from deadly diseases.
