Reconstruction of CP roads cost millions

Central Province Minister of Electricity, Power and Energy Bandula Yalegama said the highways in Matale-Kandy and Nuwara Eliya areas are badly damaged. Earth slip-soil erosions, uprooted trees had caused extensive damage and the re-construction of the roads are expected to cost of a huge sum.

Though the Ministry has taken steps to have treasury allocations for re-construction work it would take long time and this would delay the re-construction process.

I had discussions with the Pradeshiya Shabha chairman and PS Secretary to attend to the minor road repairs - and other breakdown in their respective areas on condition their expenses will be eventually re-imbursed by the Central Provincial Council", The PC Minister said.
