Air Force rescues flood victims
Sri Lanka Air Force rescued 27 flood victims yesterday fromthe
affected areas in the North Central Province. Since last Thursday the
Air Force rescue teams saved 47 persons in all. The Air Force deployed
seven helicopters within the day to rescue people from flood affected
areas. Two Bell 212s, two Mi-17s operated from Anuradhapura while
another Bell 212 and a Mi-17 operated from
Hingurakgoda Air Force base in rescue missions in the North Central
Province. Another Bell 212 was deployed in Batticaloa. The SLAF air
lifted a total of 27,000 kilograms of dry rations and essential goods to
the displaced families living in temporary shelters. (DY)
