Observer Mobitel Awards: Interest is fast catching up in the
Sunday Observer-Sri Lanka Telecom-Mobitel Schoolboy Cricketer of The
Year Contest and Mobitel will offer three Sri Lanka Cricket T-shirts to
the three lucky winners each week in addition to the cash awards to the
Sunday Observer readers who vote in the competition.
Mobitel are the official sponsors of the Sri Lanka cricket team and
their latest generous offer will no doubt be an encouragement to the
keen followers of school cricket to participate in the Sunday Observer-Mobitel
Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year All-Island and Outstation
Contest each week.
Ananda spinner Sachitra Perera once again took the number one spot
and Thomian leg-spinner Neomal Wickremasekera was pushed into second
place while Royal’s hard hitting batsman Ramith Rambukwella with his
recent heroics with the bat against the touring England Under-19 Team
was placed third ousting team mate Bhanuka Rajapakse in the Most Popular
Schoolboy Cricketer 2011 All-Island category.
Maris Stella’s C. Dilshan too, climbed to the number one spot after
being number two last week after a tussle with Royal Panadura’s Dishan
Vimukthi in the Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer 2011 in the Outstation
category at the end of count number 4 in the Observer/Mobitel Schoolboy
Cricketer of the Year 2011 competition.
