Ceylinco VIP introduces Warranty Insurance

Ceylinco Insurance recently introduced their concept of Warranty Insurance for the motoring public of Sri Lanka.

The advantage in Warranty Insurance is that it pays for the mechanical defects of the parts in re-conditioned vehicles that are covered under the insurance, during the first year from the date of purchase.

Brand new vehicles will be given an extended warranty of up to two years on top of the warranty given by the manufacturer.

The scheme hailed as an industry first enhances the concept of insuring a vehicle, said Ceylinco Insurance.

“Regular vehicle insurance only settles claims if the vehicle has met with an accident. But with Warranty Insurance, Ceylinco VIP On the Spot offers the vehicle owners an opportunity to have a comprehensive cover for several parts of the vehicle against manufacturing defects.

The Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC opened a branch at Ruwanwella recently.

The branch is equipped with all facilities available at other CB branches and will also serve the bank's customers in Karawanella, Yatiyantota, Bulathkohupitiya, Dehiovita, Anguruwella and Kitulgala.

The branch is connected to all branches and supermarket banking counters of the bank islandwide, enabling online real-time banking.


LAWASIA Sri Lanka Business Law conference

The Bar Association of Sri Lanka with LAWASAIA organise the Business Law conference on March 12, 13 at Hilton Colombo International and Sri Lankan Jurists, leading practitioners of the legal profession, Judges and investors who are experts in international business and investments will be the speakers and panellists of the conference, the theme of “Using the law to achieve appropriate, sustainable and rapid economic growth”.

Business Law is a developing area of the law in the Asia Pacific Region including Sri Lanka and senior and junior members of the Bar, Judges, investors entrepreneurs and government officials involved in international trade and commerce will be benefited.


Workshop on ‘Sustainable Tourism’

A two-day workshop on Sustainable Tourism was conducted recently for students of the Hospitality, Tourism and Events Management Degree Program of the Uva- Wellassa University by tourism expert Srilal Miththapala.

In addition to covering Environment and Sustainable Tourism developments in a Sri Lankan context, the 2nd half of the program focused on practical field work.

The students had to do a three hour trek to the Namunukula mountain, and then conceptualise a suitable sustainable development project for the area. They presented their ideas in batches, which was evaluated by the course director and other lecturers. The course proved to be beneficial to the students, since it gave them a chance to understand theoretical inputs and to practically apply them to a project. LF

Prestige launches limousines

Prestige Limousines launched the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado limousine - the world’s first Toyota limousine, the Chrysler 300C limousine and the Hummer H3 limousine in Colombo recently.

The chief guest was Namal Rajapaksa MP with Ministers, cricketers, celebrities and distinguished guests present.


Speed in Jaffna

Speed Water Systems in keeping with its motto “Water available and affordable to all” took part in the recent Jaffna International Trade Fair.

Speed bottled drinking water is now available in the Jaffna peninsula.
