Ample stocks of medicines in EP

Eastern Province Health Minister M.S. Subair denied allegations being made by certain mischievous elements that a severe shortage exists for medicines in the hospitals in the flood-hit Eastern Province.

He said those are baseless rumours and the people need not panic. Adequate medical items are available in hospitals and Regional Medical Offices in the province.

Provincial Minister Subair alerted the people to contact the hotline number 0772276292 on any queries regarding medicine.

Subair said he and the Provincial Health Director are aware of the rumour mongers.

There are enough stocks of medicines in the hospitals in the province. There are Regional health offices in the Batticaloa, Ampara and Trincomalee districts.

Meanwhile, a threat of epidemics also prevails in the province. All preventive measures have been taken by the Health Ministry to protect the people from epidemics.
