TANSTIA delegation visits Sri Lanka

A delegation from Tamilnadu Small and Tiny Industries Association
(TANSTIA) visited Sri Lanka recently. TANSTIA is the apex body of small
and micro industries in Tamilnadu recognised both by State and Central
Government.
TANSTIA collectively represents the interests and has served this
sector since 1956. All district industrial estates and productwise
associations are affiliated to TANSTIA.
The delegation comprising more than 20 companies representing product
and services including automobile components, rubber products, tourism,
wood products, printing, wire products, material handling equipment, air
conditioners, engineering services, conveyor services and industrial
sheet metal work had a discussion with the president and senior
officials of FCCISL and was keen in investing in Sri Lanka to benefit
from the Indo-Sri Lanka Free Trade Agreement.
The outcome of a subsequent meeting President FCCISL Tissa Jayaweera
had with Deputy Minister of Finance Geethanjana Gunawardena on the
possibility of allocating land for these entrepreneurs to establish
industrial units in Sri Lanka was conveyed to the President of TANSTIA
and awaits their response.
