SLAF gets ready for 60th anniversary celebrations
The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) will commemorate its 60th anniversary
on March 2. The celebrations lined up include a march past and a fly
past of nearly 1,400 officers and airmen.
A commemorative coin and stamp will also be issued to mark the
celebrations.
The highlight of the anniversary celebrations will be the SLAF
Exhibition and Carnival from March 2 to 8 at the SLAF Base at Ratmalana.
The exhibition and carnival includes dramatic airshows air combat
manoeuvres and aerobatic displays by the SLAF and international air
force teams, a hostage rescue operation with SLAF Special Forces'
paratroopers along with vintage air craft and new aircraft and weapons.
The exhibition and carnival will be open to the public from 4 p.m. on
March 2 and from 10 a.m. - 11 p.m on March 3. There will be over 40
stalls representing each flying unit.
Ample parking space will also be available for vehicles throughout
the week-long exhibition. - DY
