Four SLCB temporary employees in hot water

The four persons taken in for questioning by the Colombo Crime Division (CCD) in connection with selling ICC World Cup match tickets between Sri Lanka and Pakistan at exorbitant rates out side the authorised premises have been released after their statements were recorded, CCD sources told the Sunday Observer. The soaring demand for tickets for the world cup matches were so high that tickets priced at Rs. 50 were sold at exorbitant rates of Rs. 1,300 by four temporary employees of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board. The employees had 60-70 ICC World Cup tickets in their possession.

The CCD headquarters acted on a complaint by a member of the public that persons were selling ICC World Cup match tickets on the roadside near the Sirisena stadium for Rs. 1,300. Police said they will check whether the tickets were forged or genuine ones. Around 4,000 such tickets have been sold in various places depriving tickets for cricket fans who called over at the Stadium. The statements of the Board officials will also be recorded in this connection, a senior police officer said. DIG Crimes Anura Senanayake and the Director CCD D.R.L. Ranaweera are investigating the fraud.
