Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from three Grama Niladhari Divisions in the Mullaitivu district will be resettled before March 10, Mullaitivu District Secretariat sources said.

The proposed resettlement will take place in Kumulumunai East, Kumulumunai Central and Karunattukkeni where de-mining has been completed successfully.

Moves are afoot to resettle 42,993 persons who were displaced from 27 Grama Niladhari Divisions in the Mullaitivu district in their original settlements.

The de-mining operation is being conducted in various places in the Mullaitivu District.

Over 69,120 people have been resettled in their original homes in the Mullaitivu district. Over 42,930 people are staying with relatives, friends and at welfare centres. Moves have also been taken to resettle them.

Accordingly 193 families in Kumulumunai East Grama Niladhari Division, 237 families in Kumulumunai central Grama Niladhari Division and 207 families in the Karunattukkeni Grama Niladhari division will be resettled before March 10.

Dry rations will be allocated to the resettled families for nine months from the day of their resettlement. Twenty-four thousand families are receiving dry rations at present. - MN
