Nawaloka hospitals to cover entire country
Nawaloka Holdings will construct 50 to 60 room hospitals in major
cities this year in a move to expand healthcare services in the country,
said Chairman, Nawaloka ABC Petroleum, Jayantha Dharmadasa.
He was addressing the media on Wednesday to announce the company's
entry into the lubricant market with Total - a French multinational oil
company.
He said land for the projects have been identified and work is
expected to commence this year. Hospitals will be built in five key
locations.
Nawaloka Holdings is currently expanding its landmark hospital in
Colombo with state-of-the art facilities to offer a superior service in
the city.
"The group has identified the huge potential of the lubricant market
in Sri Lanka and the need to provide products with value for money",
Dharmadasa said.
Nawaloka ABC Petroleum commenced operations in the Western province
and then expanded to the Central, Eastern and parts of Sabaragamuwa
province.
"The North is a huge market and we hope to set up operations there
and cover the entire country this year", Dharmadasa said.
Nawaloka ABC Petroleum has introduced two product lines under the
brands of Total and Elf.
The four wheel segment will have a range of products under the brand
Total while products for two and three wheel segments will be catered to
by Elf.
When asked whether there were plans to diversify into the leisure
sector Dharmadasa said "At the moment no. But if it is required we will
not be hesitant to take on the challenge.
Nawaloka group had plans to buy the Galadari hotel but later withdrew
plans and sold its stake to expand the hospital.
Sri Lanka's lubricant market has revived after a short setback. The
reduction in vehicle import tax has paid rich dividends to the lubricant
market.
The value of the local lubricant market is around Rs.11 billion.
Caltex, Laugfs, LIOC, Mobil are some of the key players in the lubricant
market.
