Elephant Pass saltern reopens

The Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development Ministry has taken steps to reopen the Elephant Pass saltern, in the North.

The Ministry with a view of re-employing the previous employees attached to the salterns is collecting the details of the employees attached to the institution.

The Ministry has asked the employees of Elephant Pass saltern to send their information relating to the positions they held at the time the saltern was closed, before 20th 0f this month.

The previous employees are requested to send all information to Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Ministry No-780 Maradhana Road, Colombo-10 before the deadline.The Ministry has taken steps to produce salt at Elephant Pass saltern as the de-mining has successfully completed in this area.

The Elephant Pass saltern was engaged in salt production successfully before 1990s.

The fields of this saltern was in Manthai, Kallundai and Semmani in Elephant Pass.
