Rain puts an early end to 95th Battle

The 95th "Battle of the Blues" between Trinity College and St. Anthony's College ended in a draw at Katugastota with a heavy shower which fell around 4.30 p.m. bringing an early end to the battle which had lost all interest after Antonians had avoided the follow on.

The Antonians continuing their over-night score of 40 for 1 when three wickets fell at the score 58 which later became 83 for 6 and they had to make a further 73 to avoid the follow on.

Manoj Sarathchandra 31 (3 fours, 62 balls) and Romesh Mackwin 16 not out put on 48 for the seventh wicket to steer them to safety.

Left arm spinner Aamil Anas 4 for 54, leg spinner, Akila Jayasundera 2 for 32 and off spinner Heshan Wanniarachchi 2 for 32 took the wickets which fell to bowlers.

Trinity in their second innings made 107 for 5 when rain stopped play.
