‘An evening of Classical Music’ at Alliance Francaise de COLOMBO

Francaise de COLOMBO will present ‘An Evening of Classical Music’ by the
famous Japanese pianist, Mrs. Chiho Akaishi and Mrs. Otsuka (Soprano) on
Sunday, March 20 at the Alliance Francaise Auditorium at No.11, Barnes
Place, Colombo 7.
Mrs. Menaka De Fonseka Sahabandu, one of the best classical musicians
in Sri Lanka will perform as the guest artist.
Mrs. Chiho Akaishi hails from Shikzuoko, a city inbetween Nagoya and
Tokyo.
Mrs. Chihoko Otsuka is an accomplished soloist and is a graduate of
the famed Tokyo Art University where she trained as a classical
vocalist. She is a native of Shizuoka Ken, Japan and has performed in
numerous operatic roles and song recitals over the last 23 years in many
countries.
She has sung the 'Le Nozze Di Figaro' of Mozart and 'Carmen' of Bizet
and performed Oratorio music of Bach, Handel, Hayden and Mozart to
audiences in Japan and Salzburg, Austria.
Mrs. Menaka De Fonseka Sahabandu, who is no stranger to the classical
music audience of Sri Lanka will also perform. Menaka who holds a
Fellowship from the Trinity College, London for Voice and Piano and a
licentiate from the Royal Schools of Music for Voice and Piano has a
teaching career spanning 25 years and is one of the leading piano and
singing teachers in Sri Lanka.
She is the founder and Director of Menaka Singers, a mixed choir
consisting primarily of Singers trained by her.
