Metropolitan Computers receives Acer's Best Regional Sales Growth Award

Metropolitan Computers, the Information Technology arm of the Metropolitan Group received the South Asia Pacific regional top sales growth award from Acer Singapore for outstanding sales performance despite global economic and market setbacks, from among five countries in the region.

Sri Lanka's Acer computer sales doubled over the last year, reaching twice as many customers in every part of the country and in every sector in Sri Lanka.

Metropolitan Computers, distributors of Acer computers and laptops have also widened its presence through the dealer and branch network attracting more customers from the recently liberated north and the east.

Currently, it has more than 150 dealer points islandwide to reach the customers.

"Our strategy to expand our customer base was simple.

Basically we identified the customer segments and offered them the product that matched their requirement.

For instance, we initiated a student offer where we offered them laptop with features that suited their studies at affordable rates as a penetration strategy."

said Ali Azhar, Manager, Acer Channel Development at Metropolitan Computers.

In 2010, Metropolitan Computers received the regional award for Most Innovative in marketing award from Acer Singapore for its campaigning ideas that helped improve Acer's brand equity and market share in Sri Lanka.
