Tiens to set up facility in H'tota
 

Tiens Health Care (Pvt) Ltd. plans to set up a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Tangalle, Hambantota prior to June. HDFC sponsors computer training

A computer training centre sponsored by the HDFC Bank as a part of its CSR program was opened recently in the Visuddharama Temple premises at Dematagoda. This is the first training centre established by the bank to develop computer literacy of the youth in the area.

The centre will be administrated by the HDFC bank and training will be given free.

Commercial Bank expands presence in Wattala

The Commercial Bank of Ceylon has opened its third service point in Wattala to serve the Bank's ever growing customer base in the area. The Bank's new Supermarket Banking Counter stays open from 10.00 am to 7.30 pm, seven days a week and serves as a 365-day banking centre.

It is equipped with an automated teller machine that is linked to the Bank's network of 404 ATMs and 190 branches.

Wattala area is also served by the main Commercial Bank branch on the Colombo-Negombo Road and by a Minicom at the Cargills Food City.


Union Assurance conducts HR Week

Union Assurance PLC (UA) recently conducted a HR Week at its Head Office complex. The focus of the HR Week revolved around a unique three-part presentation replete with video clips. All staff members were invited in batches to participate in the presentation.

The aim of the presentation was to create an awareness of the role of HR followed by an explanation of HR development activities launched by the company and ending with the requirement for all employees to be Brand Ambassadors. The main focus of the presentation was taking 'Union Culture' to the next level.


'WOW Bonanza' rewards at 9to9 showroom

PC House PLC's flagship showroom 9to9 is rewarding its customers through the WOW Bonanza promotion which includes nine draws in nine weeks in their 9to9 showroom where shoppers have a chance of winning amazing prizes.

Head of Marketing PCH, Rizwan Anise said that prize draws will be held in three phases during nine weekly draws where customers can win IT equipment, computer software and gift vouchers.

A monthly draw entitles them the chance to win three Samsung LCD TV monitors and a DELL Vostro 1220 notebook at the grand draw at the end of the promotion. Those who do not win at the weekly draw will have the opportunity of winning big as they are eligible for subsequent monthly draws and the grand draw as well.

Customers who purchase goods exceeding Rs. 10,000 will receive coupons which will enable them to participate in the promotion with additional opportunities of participating as coupons will also be given for each multiple of Rs.10,000 of the total purchase.


Touchwood expands

Touchwood Investment PLC recently extended its services to the Northern region by opening its Branch in Jaffna. The office was opened on Feb 7. Government Agent, Jaffna District Head, Agriculture Department, University of Jaffna Prof. Dr. Mikunthan, Mrs. Emilda Sugumaran, Jaffna Civil Affairs Officer Colonel Kumudu Waduge, Bramasri - Daneswara Gurukkal and T. K. Anandarajah were the honoured guests. Touchwood plans to expand its services to strategic geographical locations which will include the Eastern region.

 



 


McDonald's opens in Kotahena

McDonald's opened a restaurant in Kotahena recently with the customary fanfare and free food served to persons who were fortunate to be present at the time of the opening.

McDonalds have four restaurants in Sri Lanka, located in Kollupitiya, Rajagiriya, Nugegoda, and Welisara with plans to open restaurants in other major cities.

At all McDonald's Restaurants in Sri Lanka, the food served is 100 percent Halal certified by the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama. Every effort is made to ensure that the susceptibilities of every customer is adhered to.

Beneficiary receives BoC 18+ Award

Samaraweera Bandara a resident of Galewela who maintained an 18+ account at the BoC Galewela Branch died recently. The mother of the deceased A. Chandralatha was paid ten times the value of the account balance amounting to Rs. 253,237.80.
