Rs. 250m to North, East

The Ministry of Resettlement has allocated Rs. 250 million to promote the living standards of the villagers affected by terrorism in the North and East.

The Resettlement Ministry expressed confidence that the living standards of the conflict affected people can be raised with this fund and certain small scale constructions can also be carried out. The people who lost their employments due to the conflict would be able to find employment opportunities themselves through this allocation.

The Ministry further said that these funds are also to be used to develop the schools and small constructions in conflict affected areas.

Accordingly Rs. 30.87 million to Mullaitivu District, 25.90 million to Kilinochchi, 20.99 million to Jaffna, Rs. 1.97 million to Trincomalee, Rs. 2.23 million to Ampara and Rs. 19.7 million to Vavuniya Districts have been allocated by the Resettlement Ministry.

The Resettlement Ministry has made this fund allocation to conflict affected Districts in the North and East through the portion which was allocated to the Resettlement Ministry from Decentralized Budget 2011.

Funds has also been allocated to terrorism affected Moneragala District, the Ministry sources said.
